Valdelafuente .

VALDELAFUENTE

Valdelafuente, is an ancient settlement, which is already mentioned in the Cartulary of Eslonza the year 1119, out of the noise from the road and in a beautiful setting we have the church, next to an old, medieval, although probably already there from the Romanesque period, from which the village takes its name.

There is nothing left of its assets, unless a Baroque image of San Juan Bautista, patron of the town, as its most precious jewel, the Gothic Virgin late XIII-XIV of 79 cm century, is in the museum Leon cathedral.

On the north and from Arcahueja, we found the Camino de Santiago, busy path usually by a huge crowd of pilgrims since the thirteenth century, with the formalization of the Calixtina Route or Camino Francés way to Santiago de Compostela.
Valdelafuente currently has a large industrial estate and new construction, which gives the villa a modern air leaving few remnants of what was once a traditional village.
