PROVINCE OF LOGROÑO
The territory of present autonomous community formed part during the eighteenth century the municipalities of Burgos and Soria, being included in 1810 almost entirely in the prefecture of Burgos, after the territorial division proposed by King Joseph Bonaparte.
On 15 October 1821, the Spanish courts decided to form with a province La Rioja regions of the Kingdom of Spain, which would be renamed province of La Rioja, although the measure was void by order of Fernando VII. While such provincial division failed to produce effects because of the restoration of the Old Regime in Spain in 1823 after the invasion of the Hundred Thousand Sons of Saint Louis, at the death of Fernando VII and the approval of the new provincial division produced in 1833 liberal 1833 by Javier de Burgos, a Royal Order of September 14, 1836 restored the border of the Province of Logroño as had been established in 1822 (with part of the Riojilla Burgalesa, the Highlands of Soria, the Rioja Alavesa, the region of Tudela and the district of Viana) until the end of 1841 were finally rectified the limits of the province to be in that would keep until the actualidad.1
In the Provincial Division of 1833 the Province of Logroño was included nominally between Castilla La Vieja, resulting during the Spanish Transition the province would be included briefly in the Pre-Autonomy Ente Castilla y León until the municipalities in the province urged the establishment of the current autonomy of La Rioja
