LEBOREIRO
In the heart of the Camino de Santiago is the small village of Leboreiro, which in the past was a place of some importance in the Jacobean route. Following the path enters a small square where a stone cross flanked by solid stone houses stands.
A little later we find the beautiful Romanesque church of Santa Maria, with a ship of unique plant and a semicircular apse. On the cover we can see a statue of the Madonna and Child and Two Angels.
An ancient legend that one day began pouring water from a nearby source shining during the night and the villagers, thinking it was a miracle dug and found a carving of the Virgin, which led to the church. But the Virgin returned each night to the source, until one day he decided to sculpt an artist on the tympanum of the church. From that moment, the Virgin did not return more to the source. Next to the church we can see the ancient pilgrims, founded by the Ulloa family, whose coat of arms can still be seen.
It is also worthy to mention an cabeceiro, sort of granary made salgueiro branches (willow) and is one of the few remaining in Galicia. On leaving the village there is a small medieval bridge over the river Seco, worth close to see.
