CASTROJERIZ

The Origin of Castrojeriz is uncertain. Several authors have been identified as Sisaraca of Murgobos, Ambisna, Segisama Julia or Castrum Caesaris, indigenous and ancient Roman cities.

.Connecting First documented in the Cronicón Albeldense, it is the named as Castrum Sigerici, although in later documents evolves Castro Xeriz, Castro SORIT, Castro Surit, and Castra Sorecia, the Codex Calixtinus, a guide for pilgrims of the twelfth century.

What is certain is that Castrojeriz originates at the top of the hill on which the castle which receives the nickname Castro sits. Ceramics appeared on the surface and excavations at the top of the hill, they show that there was a settlement in the Bronze Age, dating from about 1,500 years B.C.
